Neymar is Brazil’s second all-time top scorer with 75 goals in 121 games, two fewer than Pele. This could likely be his last World Cup at the age of 30 if rumours are to be suggested. In Ligue 1, Neymar has scored 11 and created nine assists in 14 games.

Entering this competition, England captain Harry Kane is the current holder of the Golden Boot, having scored five goals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In Qatar, England will face the likes of Iran, USA and Wales in Group B, which in itself offers a lot of opportunities for the Three Lions to score plenty of goals. Kane’s international record stands at 51 goals in 75 caps, seeing him just two goals shy of the all-time England goalscoring record held by Wayne Rooney.

Three Lions midfielder Jude Bellingham is perhaps the hottest prospect in world football right now at just 19 years of age. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder will expect to be a regular starter alongside Declan Rice in Qatar, and has even proved this season that he is full of goals, scoring nine and creating three assists in 22 matches for Dortmund this campaign.

Gareth Southgate’s men will be expected to go deep into the latter stages of the World Cup, having reached the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as well as making it to the final of Euro 2020.

Argentina forward Lautaro Martinez is perhaps a dark horse for the Golden Boot itself, having been his country's top scorer in South American World Cup qualifying with eight goals to his name. The Inter Milan striker has scored 21 times in 40 games for Argentina.

Kevin De Bruyne will be hoping to emulate his form at Manchester City in Qatar, having already racked up ten assists and three goals in 14 Premier League games for Pep Guardiola’s side this season. He will be feeding the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard for Belgium in Qatar.

Christian Eriksen is a crucial player for both Manchester United and Denmark, as the 30-year-old has created six assists for United already in 2022/23. Meanwhile, for his national side, Eriksen has scored 39 goals and created 26 assists in 117 matches.

Messi has already made 14 assists for PSG this campaign, raising his tally to 332 in his club career to date. Messi managed to make five assists when Argentina won the Copa America, and the 35-year-old also created two assists in their 3-0 win over Italy in the Finalissima last summer.
