It’s the battle of the fourth placed team vs the eighth placed team in the Sky Bet League One as AFC Wimbledon hosts Plymouth Argyle at Plough Lane. It can be argued that both sides have made a relatively surprising start to the campaign given the competitive nature of this league.
The Dons, who are managed by Mark Robinson, were touted as 9/1 odds to face the relegation axe this season but have put any fears to bed for the time being with their early start. After seven games, Wimbledon have accumulated 12 points from a possible 21 available. Three wins and three draws and a defeat from those games have propelled the club into the playoff places at this stage of the season.
Their record defensively has been questionable, having conceded 12 goals in seven games but they have managed to score 15 in that process. They have been involved in high scoring games on multiple occasions this season, including a 3-3 draw against Bolton, 5-3 against Portsmouth and their most recent win against Morecambe which ended 4-3.
Plymouth Argyle have the opportunity to move into the promotion places, however it will be based on results being in their favour. Having played a game less than their hosts, Argyle have accumulated 11 points from a possible 18 available.
They have only lost one game so far in the league this season, winning three and drawing the other two games. Plymouth have conceded on average 0.8 goals per game, as four goals have made their way past them season.
Nine goals from six games, give them an average of 1.3 goals scored per game, so there will be a reasonable assumption that they will continue this record this weekend. Their most notable performance came in the Carabao Cup first round, when they dispatched Championship side Peterborough United with ease in a 4-0 scoreline.
AFC Wimbledon vs Plymouth Argyle Prediction : 2-1 to the home side. @7/1
