Argentina goes head-to-head with Australia on matchday one of Group C, with Fernando Batista’s side coming in as slight favourites against the Aussies.
The Argentines haven’t picked anybody that featured in their Copa America win in Brazil earlier this month, but, have gone for a few notable players to those who might be into the MLS, Argentine Primera División and Premier League in Ezequiel Barco of Atlanta United, Thiago Almada who plays for Velez Sarsfield and the recognisable Alexis Mac Allister who plies his trade at Brighton. These three players are all flair players who should be fun for any neutral to watch.
Meanwhile, Australia first-team manager Graham Arnold who is also managing their Olympic side has selected the likes of Harry Souttar of Stoke City who was formerly on loan at Fleetwood Town as well as attacking midfielder Daniel Arzani who is on the books of Premier League champions Manchester City and formerly of their Australian franchise Melbourne City. The 22-year-old who was actually born in Iran has played six times for the Socceroos, scoring once in a 2-1 victory over Hungary back in June 2018.
