Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

Borussia Mönchengladbach versus Eintracht Frankfurt will be a closely-fought contest in the German Bundesliga, despite there being an eight points gap in favour of the visitors in the league standings.

Eintracht Frankfurt have won just one of their first three league matches since the departure of talismanic figure, Omar Marmoush who has contributed to 25 of their 45 Bundesliga goals this campaign.

On top of this, Borussia Mönchengladbach will enter this game in confidence having won both of their last two matches away at Stuttgart and at home to Bochum, leaving them just three points behind the RB Leipzig who occupy the last Champions League place.

Prediction: Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction & Preview

Borussia Mönchengladbach host Eintracht Frankfurt at Borussia Park in what is a meeting of seventh against third in the Bundesliga.

Date: 08/02/2025

Location: Borussia Park

Time: 5:30pm

Gerardo Seoane’s side are solely concentrating on the Bundesliga as they were actually knocked out of the DFB Pokal by Frankfurt on 30th October as Hugo Ekitike and Marmoush scored on either side of a Kou Itakura equaliser. Gladbach had progressed past Erzgebirge Aue 3-1 in Round One back on 17th August.

At present, the home side sit seventh in the table with 30 points from 20 matches, winning nine, drawing three and losing eight, a vast improvement from last season as they finished 14th on just 34 points.

Gladbach have been inconsistent throughout the campaign, however, one thing that has remained consistent is their home form, as six of their nine league victories have come at Borussia Park, seeing them have the sixth-best home record in the division.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt have had a superb campaign to date, as they are third in the Bundesliga with 38 points from 20 matches, winning 11, drawing five and losing on four occasions.

This is only Dino Toppmöller’s second campaign in charge of the club and they have made a lot of progress this season, as despite exiting the DFB Pokal to RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 after progressing past Eintracht Braunschweig and Borussia Mönchengladbach, they earned themselves a place in the Europa League’s Round of 16 via a fifth-place finish in the Group Stage.

Frankfurt managed to accumulate 16 points from their eight Europa League matches, as they beat Besiktas (3-1), RFS (1-0), Slavia Prague (1-0), Midtjylland (2-1) and Ferencvaros (2-0), while drawing 3-3 with Viktoria Plzen and losing to Lyon (3-2) and AS Roma (2-0).

Where to Watch

Borussia Mönchengladbach versus Eintracht Frankfurt will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Football.

Team News

Borussia Mönchengladbach

Gerardo Seoane’s side have three injury absences, as Rocco Reitz, Franck Honorat and Alassane Plea are all set to miss out.

A player to look out for is ex-Heidenheim man Tim Kleindienst who has scored 12 times and created five assists in 19 league games so far this campaign.

Eintracht Frankfurt

The visitors have just two injury doubts for this game, as both Junior Ebimbe Dina and Igor Matanovic are likely to miss the trip to Borussia Park.

There is a chance that Elye Wahi and Michy Batshuayi could make their Frankfurt debuts following January transfers from Marseille and Galatasaray.

Form Guide

Borussia Mönchengladbach

The hosts enter this game off the back of two wins in a row against Stuttgart (2-1) and Bochum (3-0) of which Rocco Reitz, Robin Hack and Tim Kleindienst all got on the scoresheet against the latter mentioned opposition.

Prior to those matches, Gladbach had suffered three defeats in a row, doing so away at Bayer Leverkusen (3-1) and Wolfsburg (5-1) after a narrow 1-0 home loss to Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich where Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game with just 22 minutes to go.

Eintracht Frankfurt

The visitors have drawn both of their last two Bundesliga matches against Wolfsburg (1-1) and Hoffenheim (2-2) on either side of a 2-0 loss away at AS Roma.

In the run-up to those games, Frankfurt managed a 2-0 win at home to Ferencvaros thanks to goals by Can Uzun and Hugo Ekitike while also defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 as Ekitike scored once again, while Oscar Hojlund also got on the scoresheet.
