Manchester United are hoping to strengthen their grip on the Champions League places in the Premier League as they lock horns with a Brentford side that have their own European aspirations this week.
The Red Devils are 3rd in the league and are firmly on course for a top five finish. Three points at Stamford Bridge last weekend represented a significant rebound from the 1-2 defeat at home to Leeds, and it'll now take an almighty slip up for them to finish outside of the Champions League spots.
Their form has seen them lose only two of their last ten outings, winning six of those. They're particularly strong at Old Trafford too, where they've won five of their last six.
Games of theirs tend to be competitive, with 83% of their last six outings seeing BTTS occur. Similarly, give of their last six games have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
In terms of personnel, Bruno Fernandes will be hoping to close out the season by reaching a historic milestone. He's hoping to break the record for the most assists in a Premier League season - currently held by Kevin De Bruyne (20) - and given he's currently on 18, he'll fancy his chances. Six of those 18 assists have been recorded in his last eight appearances.
Brentford also have big dreams in the final weeks of the season as they chase down a top six finish. The Bees have had an unbelievable campaign and are only two points shy of Brighton in 6th. They do, then, have hopes of securing a first-ever European campaign for the club.
Keith Andrews' side have dipped in terms of form, however, winning only two of their last ten games, failing to win any of their last six. The caveat here is that they've drawn their last six games on the bounce (excluding penalty shootouts), so they're still competitive week to week.
Four of Brentford's last seven games have seen both over 2.5 goals and BTTS occur, while all of the last five head-to-head meetings between the teams have seen both sides find the back of the net. Four of the last five clashes have also seen at least three goals scored.
Brentford haven't won at Old Trafford since 1937 and despite their overall impressive campaign, they may have lost form at the crucial time. We think the home side will get the job done here in what should be an entertaining game.
Man United 2-1 Brentford
