Celtic vs Bayern Munich Prediction, Preview & Betting Tips

Bayern Munich enter this game as favourites to beat Celtic due to the overall quality of their squad, as well as the fact that they are in good form having won nine of their last ten matches across all competitions - on top of this, Bayern have fired in 12 goals in their last four matches.

Celtic will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet though, as their Round of 32 qualification hinged on their home form as they earned ten of their 12 Group Stage points at Celtic Park, scoring ten times across those matches against Slovan Bratislava, RB Leipzig, Club Brugge and Young Boys.

Prediction: Celtic 1-2 Bayern Munich

Celtic vs Bayern Munich Prediction & Preview

Celtic hosts Bayern Munich at Celtic Park in what could be an entertaining encounter in the Champions League’s Round of 32.

Date: 12/02/2025

Location: Celtic Park

Time: 8pm

This will be the first time that Celtic and Bayern Munich have locked horns in the Champions League since the 2017/18 season, when Bayern did the double over the Scottish Premiership outfit, winning 2-1 at Celtic Park thanks to goals by Kingsley Coman and Javi Martinez on either side of a Callum McGregor strike, after earning a comprehensive 3-0 win over the Hoops in Munich.

It was seen as a major achievement for Celtic to qualify for the Round of 32, as they managed to finish 21st-place in the Group Stage, ahead of the likes of Manchester City, following wins against Slovan Bratislava (5-1), RB Leipzig (3-1) and Young Boys (1-0), while drawing with Atalanta (0-0), Club Brugge (1-1) and Dinamo Zagreb (0-0) while losing to Borussia Dortmund (7-1) and Aston Villa (4-2).

On top of their European achievements, Brendan Rodgers side have been almost flawless in the Scottish Premiership, having accumulated 66 points from 25 matches (winning 21, drawing three and losing once), seeing them sit 13 points above their fierce rivals, Rangers. Recently, Celtic managed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, meaning that they could be on course for a domestic treble having beaten the Gers in the final of the Scottish League Cup on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Bayern Munich finished just one point off the Round of 16 qualification places in the Champions League, with 15 points from eight matches, having beaten Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 on matchday one, before suffering defeats to Aston Villa (1-0) and Barcelona (4-1). After those matches, Vincent Komapny’s men earned wins over Benfica (1-0), PSG (1-0), Shakhtar Donetsk (5-1) and Slovan Bratislava (3-1) while losing 3-0 at Feyenoord.

Typically, Bayern are top of the Bundesliga with 54 points from 21 matches, eight points clear of last season’s surprise Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen. The only major blot on Bayern’s copybook was their DFB Pokal defeat to Leverkusen in the Round of 16 - a game that saw Nathan Tella score the only goal of the game after Manuel Neuer had been sent off after just 17 minutes.

Where to Watch

Celtic versus Bayern Munich will be shown live on TNT Sports 2 and discovery+ with coverage starting at 7pm.

Form Guide

Celtic

Celtic have won four of their last five matches, with the only blot on their copybook being a 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa on matchday eight of the Champions League after previously beating Young Boys 1-0 on matchday seven.

In terms of domestic form, Brendan Rodgers side have managed wins over Motherwell (3-1) and Dundee (6-0) in the Scottish Premiership, while thumping Raith Rovers 5-0 in the Scottish Cup thanks to goals by Daizen Maeda (3), Luke McCowan and Yang.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have managed to win all of their last four matches since suffering a shock 3-0 defeat at Feyenoord on matchday seven, as Vincent Kompany’s side have since beaten Freiburg (2-1), Slovan Bratislava (3-1), Holstein Kiel (4-3) and Werder Bremen (3-0) with Harry Kane (2) and Leroy Sané both getting on the scoresheet in the latter mentioned win.
