Everton v Brentford Prediction

Everton will look to all but secure their Premier League status for next season as they welcome Brentford to Goodison Park on Sunday with the Toffees two points clear of the bottom three with three games left to play.

A win may here may not secure Premier League survival, but it would be the biggest step in doing so. However, should Leeds United lose to Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton win, it will create a five-point gap with just six points left on the table for Everton and only three left for the Yorkshire side, meaning they'll subsequently be mathematically secured in the division. Moreover, if Leeds lose to Brighton this weekend and a Burnley win at Tottenham, Leeds would be down and Burnley would be safe unless they can overturn their torrid goals difference record.

All in all, it's been a very successful month for Everton, and their defeat to Burnley seems a long way away right now as that dragged them into the relegation zone. A fantastic victory against Manchester United would follow, and by drawing with Leicester City thanks to a late equaliser from Richarlison, the Toffees set themselves free of the bottom trio and put fate back in their own hands. However, with Burnley's wins and a loss to Liverpool, the Toffees quickly became under fire once more, but a win against Chelsea and Leicester City last week catapulted them above Burnley and threw Leeds into the drop. Although they drew with Watford 0-0 in midweek, this result isn't so tough to deal with Watford already being down and out just as Leeds lost to Chelsea 3-0.

As for Brentford, it's been a fantastic debut season for them in the Premier League with relegation barely being spoken of surrounding the club all campaign. There was a period where they were winless in five games in 2022 and consequently rocketed into 16th, but with them up into 13th now after a phenomenal run of six wins from their last 10 games, they are one of the most in-form sides in the bottom half.

They've managed to beat the likes of Burnley, hammer Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge 4-1, and also register a 3-0 victory against Southampton to catapult them far away from the drop zone. With two games left on the board for the Bees, they could end up finishing 16 points above the relegation zone if they win their remaining two games and Leeds lose both of theirs. Moreover, with 12 wins in the able being two more than Everton, while the London outfit have also scored seven more goals, Thomas Frank will have few complaints regarding this debut season.

Nathan Patterson is out for the final few games of the season, and it looks as if Yerry Mina is set to join him too. Ben Godfrey is nearing a return, but his injury likely means Mason Holgate and Michael Keane carry on at centre-back. Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend won't play until the new season, while Donny van de Beek is ready to return this weekend, but doubt continue over him.

Brentford team news

Sergi Canos Tenes, Saman Ghoddos, Mathias Jorgensen, and Frank Onyeka are all out here, but Ethan Pinnock should return to the side.
