Blackburn Rovers and Cambridge United will clash at Ewood Park this Saturday afternoon in the FA Cup with the home side aiming to put together a solid cup run after a terrible run of form in the Championship.
It's been one of the worst seasons in recent memory for Blackburn with the club sitting down in 17th. after yet another winless game last time out. In fact, Rovers are heading into this FA Cup weekend without a win in the past five games and only one victory coming out of December. So far, it's been their worst start to a season since facing relegation into League One back in 2016/17.
Blackburn's recent winless run has seen them suffer a 4-0 battering from Southampton before losing 2-1 at home to Watford and then even suffering a defeat from the relegation-fighting Huddersfield Town. Hull City would then put another three goals past them before a 2-2 draw with last-placed Rotherham United.
Blackburn are now within 10 points of relegation, but this also still puts the club within four of the top 10. In total, Jon Dahl Tomasson's side have now lost 14 games and won just 10 of their 26 league fixtures - only those in the bottom three have suffered more defeats, while even Rotherham down in 24th have lost the same amount of matches.
Worse yet, with 48 goals let in, only the last-placed Millers have let in more with 50. At the same time, however, Blackburn have still managed to secure 39 goals, which is more than West Bromwich Albion up in fifth.
It's been another struggle for Cambridge in League One this season and they now come into this game having lost back-to-back clashes with Oxford United and Leyton Orient. The club also head into this match down in 18th in the third tier, although they have managed to beat Fleetwood Town 4-0 in the FA Cup second round already, while they have also edged past Bracknell Town in the first round.
