Blackburn Rovers vs Wolves Prediction

Wolves enter this FA Cup Fourth Round tie as favourites due to the quality of their squad, as well as the fact that they ply their trade one division above the Lancashire side.

Vitor Pereira’s men will enter this game full of confidence following their superb win over Aston Villa last time out, while Blackburn suffered a dismal 2-1 loss at the hands of QPR, meaning that they have lost four of their last five matches in the Championship.

Matheus Cunha is having an excellent campaign for the Molineux club, as the former Atlético Madrid man has scored 11 times and created four assists in 24 appearances so far this campaign and will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net at Ewood Park.

Prediction: Blackburn Rovers 0-2 Wolves

Blackburn Rovers vs Wolves Prediction & Preview

Blackburn Rovers hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers at Ewood Park in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

Date: 09/02/2025

Location: Ewood Park

Time: 12:30pm

This will be the first time that these two sides have met since the 2016/17 season, that campaign saw Blackburn Rovers suffer relegation to League One, while on the other hand, Wolves were laying foundations in place for their promotion back to the Premier League in 2017/18. Both encounters that season resulted in draws - 0-0 at Molineux and 1-1 at Ewood Park.

A lot has changed since then, as Blackburn are fifth in the Championship, but, will be wary of some of their recent results that have seen them go from outsiders for automatic promotion to a side that now sit just five points above 14th-place Millwall.

John Eustace’s men are having a much-improved season, having survived relegation on the final day of the 2023/24 campaign. However, their recent run of two wins in 11 league matches is threatening to derail their season should they not recapture their early season form that saw them go unbeaten across their first seven matches, and even go on an impressive six game winning streak between 9th November and 14th December.

In the Third Round of this season’s FA Cup, Blackburn Rovers earned an impressive 1-0 win against Middlesbrough at the Riverside as Andi Wiemann scored the only goal of the game with just 20 minutes to go.

On the other hand, Wolves’ season has started to somewhat pick-up under Vitor Pereira, as they managed just nine points in their first 16 league games this season, culminating in the sacking of Gary O’Neil. Since then, Pereira has overseen wins against Leicester City (3-0), Manchester United (2-0) and Aston Villa (2-0) as well as a draw with Tottenham Hotspur (2-2), lifting the club out of the relegation zone by two points.

The FA Cup could be a good distraction for Wolves away from the pressures of the Premier League. In the Third Round, Wolves managed to beat Bristol City 2-1 at Ashton Gate thanks to first half goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rodrigo Gomes.
