Two relegation-fighting Premier League sides will park their rough form in the top flight for a meeting with one another in the FA Cup fourth round with Luton Town aiming to get another win over Everton this weekend.
The Hatters continue to struggle in their first-ever Premier League season with the club rooted in the relegation zone still after recording their 12th defeat of the season to Chelsea three weeks ago before a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Burnley.
Luton also struggled in their first FA Cup match of the season, as they drew 0-0 with Bolton Wanderers at Kenilworth Road before beating the League One side over in Bolton. Luton fell 1-0 down that day, but Tahith Chong soon equalised before a winner from Chiedozie Ogbene.
Luton will also have one eye back on Premier League action in this game, given how they are only one point behind Everton in the fight to survive. Better yet, the Hatters have a game in hand over the Toffees, meaning a win in that game would rocket them out of the relegation zone and throw Everton back in at after their 10-point deduction sent them into 19th a few months ago.
Sean Dyche's men have since gone on to put together a healthy run of form and move clear of the drop zone, but with a game in hand for Luton, fate is once again out of their hands. On the other hand, the 10-point deduction for the Toffees does also come with them winning eight games this season, which is just one less victory on the board than sides like Newcastle United and Chelsea.
Luton have also already beat Everton this season at a time when Dyche's job was on the line and where Everton fans feared the worst. This was also the first win of the Premier League season for Luton, as Tom Lockyear and Carlton Morris scored first half goals back in September.
