Swansea vs Morecambe Preview, Tips & Stats

Swansea host Morecambe this Saturday in the Third Round of the FA Cup. The Swans sit in the bottom half of the table in the Championship and Morecambe also sit in the bottom half of the League Two, meaning a chance in the Cup may be a welcome break from League football.

Swansea currently sit 16th in the Championship with eight wins, eight draws and ten losses in 26 games. Last season, it was at this stage of the FA Cup that Swansea made their exit. After a 1 - 1 draw with Bristol City, City managed a 2 - 1 win after extra time in the Replay.

In their last five games in all competitions, Swansea have two wins, one draw and two losses.

Sam Greenwood opened the scoring for Middlesbrough just minutes before halftime, but Jamal Lowe equalised for Swansea with 30 minutes to go. However, Samuel Silvera scored late on for a 2 - 1 win for Middlesbrough. Next time out saw Swansea on the right side of a 2 - 1 scoreline. Jamie Paterson drew first blood for Swansea but Liam Miller equalised for Preston just seven minutes later. Paterson then completed his brace in the 95th minute for a 2 - 1 win.

Joe Aribo, Samuel Edozie and Che Adams all scored along with a brace from Ryan Fraser in a 5 - 0 win for Southampton over a Swansea team who only managed one shot on target. Liam Walsh opened the scoring in the seventh minute, but Haji Wright equalised within three minutes. Ellis Simms then gave Coventry the lead, but Liam Cullen grabbed the 2 - 2 draw in the 95th minute.

The last time out for Swansea was against West Brom. Cullen scored once again for Swansea with the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win for The Swans.

Morecambe currently sit 17th in League Two with nine wins, six draws and nine losses in 24 games. The Shrimps could only manage the First Round in last season’s FA Cup, losing 2 - 0 to Sheffield Wednesday.

In their last five games in all competitions, Morecambe have one win, two draws and one loss.

Eli King, Jacob Bedeau and David Tutonda all scored along with a brace from Michael Mellon for a 5 - 0 win for Morecambe over Doncaster Rovers, despite having less of the possession. Max Dean opened the scoring for MK Dons, but JJ McKiernan equalised just minutes into the second half. A goal from Joe Tomlinson and a second from Dean gave MK Dons the 3 - 1 win.

James Connolly and McKiernan put Morecambe into an early 2 - 0 lead, but Clarke Oduor and Bradley Halliday both scored in the second half to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Bradford City. Goals from Daniel Crowley and Jodi Jones and a hat-trick from Macaulay Langstaff gave Notts County the 5 - 0 win over Morecambe.

The most recent outing for Morecambe was against Harrogate Town. Jack Muldoon put Harrogate into the lead just before the halftime whistle, but Jordan Slew brought Morecambe back level early in the second half. George Thomson regained the lead for Harrogate Town, but Bedeau’s 92nd minute goal grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Morecambe.

Swansea and Morecambe have never met in a professional game. The Swans have the better record in the competition, having gotten as far as the Semi-finals all the way back in 1963, whereas Morecambe’s furthest venture into the competition is to the Third Round.
