Accrington vs. Port Vale Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Accrington vs. Port Vale prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.

Accrington's League One survival bid continues on Friday as they face off with Port Vale at Wham Stadium.

Accrington Stanley currently sit 21st in League One with eight wins, eleven draws and nineteen losses from thirty-eight games this season.

It's been a fairly dismal campaign for the Lancashire side who find themselves sliding further towards an inevitable relegation as the weeks pass by with their form showing little sign of improving.

They enter this game winless in their last six matches having drawn one and lost five of those six encounters.

Their most recent game saw them comprehensively battered 5-0 away at Exeter City, a result that confirmed a fourth straight defeat with those four losses coming by an aggregate scoreline of 11-1.

Stanley haven't scored in three games now and goalscoring has been a huge problem for them, with John Coleman's side scoring just seven goals in their last fifteen matches in all competitions.

Their form at home has been marginally better than their form overall having at least won of their last five encounters on home soil but having lost the other four they're still coming into this game in a bad way.

Accrington are now three points from safety with eight games left to play and on their current trajectory they're in danger of falling adrift of the other contenders unless they manage to stop the rot fairly imminently.

Port Vale currently sit 17th in League One with twelve wins, nine draws and eighteen losses from thirty-nine games this season.

Port Vale have had a wholly unremarkable season as they find themselves with, likely, nothing to play for with seven games remaining given they're ten points clear of the drop zone and almost twenty-points shy of the play-offs.

As such, their form is fairly underwhelming as they enter this game winless in their last four matches (W0 D2 L2) having won just one of their last seven.

They're fortunate that they've accumulated enough points already that relegation isn't a huge concern because their form is abysmal and if matters were pressing they'd be in a lot of bother.

Their most recent game saw them draw 2-2 away at Portsmouth which, by all accounts, was not a bad result - even if they did surrender a 2-0 lead - and they'll have to hope it's something they can build on.

Their overall form away from home is poor though, with Port Vale winning just one of their last ten matches on the road while failing to win any of their last five away games.

This, however, is one of the most winnable fixtures in the league and if they're unable to take three points here they're unlikely to win away again this season.
