Bolton Wanderers will be aiming to stamp down their marker on the playoff spots this weekend when they meet with Shrewsbury Town at home with the Greater Manchester side in sixth and needing a few more points to secure a spot.
Bolton are in the playoff spots only on goals difference and the highest they can now finish is fifth if they fail to win here, as Barnsley are 10 points clear with only 12 left on the board. Wanderers have won 20 games so far in the league but they registered their 12th draw in midweek in an away trip to Burton Albion.
The club does still have the best defensive record with 33 goals let in, and only Ipswich Town can match this. Last weekend, Bolton defeated Oxford United on the road and this game is one of three home games in a row to help them secure a spot in the top six.
Shrewsbury were brutally unlucky not to get anything out of the midweek game against Plymouth Argyle, as a goal in the 96th minute took all three points for the Pilgrims. Shrewsbury are still in the top half iof the table. with them two points above the 13th-placed Fleetwood Town, and they are still only two points behind Charlton Athletic in 10th.
