Bolton vs Shrewsbury Prediction, Tips & Stats

Bolton Wanderers will be aiming to stamp down their marker on the playoff spots this weekend when they meet with Shrewsbury Town at home with the Greater Manchester side in sixth and needing a few more points to secure a spot.

Bolton are in the playoff spots only on goals difference and the highest they can now finish is fifth if they fail to win here, as Barnsley are 10 points clear with only 12 left on the board. Wanderers have won 20 games so far in the league but they registered their 12th draw in midweek in an away trip to Burton Albion.

The club does still have the best defensive record with 33 goals let in, and only Ipswich Town can match this. Last weekend, Bolton defeated Oxford United on the road and this game is one of three home games in a row to help them secure a spot in the top six.

Shrewsbury were brutally unlucky not to get anything out of the midweek game against Plymouth Argyle, as a goal in the 96th minute took all three points for the Pilgrims. Shrewsbury are still in the top half iof the table. with them two points above the 13th-placed Fleetwood Town, and they are still only two points behind Charlton Athletic in 10th.

            Shrewsbury team news

Killian Phillips scored the opening goal against Plymouth and he should feature here. There are an extraordinary amount of injuries for Shrewsbury with them only able to field four substitutes last time out. Tavies, Hernes, Harry Nurgoyne, Nana Oqusu-Gyimah and Declan Hutchings are all out here as a result. The team from midweek likely remains the same as a result, with Tom Bloxham and Street set to feature in the attack. Bennett, Winchester, Luke Leahy and Shipley should all feature in the midfield. There are no suspensions for Salop to deal with.

            Bolton team news

Victor Adeboyejo comes into this game after scoring against Burton and he will lead the line with Dion Charles once more. Kyle Dempsey should feature here too behind them, as Williams, Thomason, Aaron Morley and Bradley all remain in the midfield. Johnston, MJ Williams and Jones. Dan Nlundulu should feature here as well with Cameron Jerome likely to get some more minutes after coming off the bench against Burton. Josh Sheehan and Declan John are back in the squad now too. Shola Shoretire has barely played in recent weeks and he should feature here.
