ITV Racing Tips – Saturday 19th September 2026 Best Bets for Ayr & Newbury

ITV will cover nine races this weekend, with big fields set for the Ayr Gold Cup and Ayr Silver Cup. ITV will also cover four races from Newbury, including the Group Two Mill Reef.

We have gone through all televised races on ITV this Saturday, picking out ITV horse racing tips, and an accumulator for ITV racing.

ITV’s coverage this Saturday kicks off with the Group Three World Trophy Stakes, run over five furlongs. Starlust could be a vulnerable favourite following a six-day turnaround.

Therefore, First Instinct could be of interest for the team of William Haggas and Cieren Fallon. The four-year-old has run credibly over six furlongs on her last two starts, including when beaten only a neck by Flora Of Bermuda at York in the Group Three Summer Stakes in July.

This drop back to five furlongs should suit, having won this race 12 months ago. Any rain will enhance her claims.

The coverage from Ayr gets underway with a handicap over a mile. Richard Spencer-trained Hawksbill looks on a very lenient mark, and he boasts more than enough ability to get his nose in front sooner or later.

He has run stormers over a mile on his last two efforts, finishing within three lengths of Archivist in the Golden Mile, and he was just three lengths behind The Lost King in the Sir Kevin Sinfield 7 in 7 Grand Finale Handicap last month.

Is ground versatile, and the yard is ticking along nicely.

The next race from Newbury this Saturday is the Autumn Cup Handicap, which has attracted a competitive field of 12 runners.

Roaring Legend looks like a very interesting contender at the prices. The Olly Murphy yard is in red-hot form, and Colin Keane is a very interesting jockey booking. Was last seen being touched off by a neck by last weekend’s dominant Mallard Handicap winner Valedictory on second start after wind surgery.

That procedure looks to have done the job, and he appears back on song after a rocky period. Hard to ignore off a lenient mark in retained headgear.

Next up from Ayr is the Listed Doonside Cup, which will cover a distance of a mile and two furlongs. Ice Max looks like a leading contender to give the Karl Burke yard a second win in the race in four years.

The step back up in trip should suit, having looked unsuited by a mile at Epsom last time when beaten four lengths by Seagulls Eleven.

Has winning form on soft and good ground, and was far from disgraced over a mile and two on two efforts this season, beaten just a length by Lambourn in Group Two Huxley Stakes and a length behind Boiling Point in the Festival Stakes at Goodwood.

The Group Two Mill Reef Stakes is next up at Newbury, with two-year-olds covering six furlongs. Nabati could be an interesting contender against Arapaho Gold at the top of the betting.

The selection was only beaten a neck by the selection over course and distance in the Rose Bowl Stakes. Crucially, Nabati gets a 3lb pull at the weights to reverse that form.

The Charlie Appleby runner has previously won over six furlongs at Newbury, and lost little in defeat when chasing home Forbidden Fire in the Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster. Yard couldn’t be in any better form, and William Buick is booked to take the ride.

A hugely competitive edition of the Ayr Silver Cup Handicap is due off at 14:30, with a field of 25 runners competing over six furlongs.

Rapper’s Delight is hard to ignore for the combination of Richard Spencer and Saffie Osborne. The four-year-old is yet to win in six starts on the turf, but hasn’t been beaten far on three efforts this season, including when a head behind Twilight Calls at Newmarket in July.

Should suit softer ground, and this has looked like the target for the season. First-time blinkers replace the visor.

A competitive handicap over a mile and two furlongs is next up at Newbury, with 13 runners set to take their chance. Horses aged either four or five that are carrying between 9-0 and 9-9 have dominated the Dubai Duty Free Handicap.

Therefore, Boyfriend could be of interest for the Richard Hannon yard. The five-year-old was beaten under a length by Looka at the start of September over an inadequate shorter distance, and he steps back up in trip this weekend.

The selection has been very consistent throughout the season since beating Nostrum at Sandown. Has followed up that effort with a third-place finish at the same venue and a neck second behind Crest Of Fire at Goodwood in August.

The penultimate race covered on ITV from Ayr this Saturday is the Group Three Firth of Clyde Stakes. Nine fillies will take their chance in the race, but Etonnante could be of the most interest for the Karl Burke team.

The Havana Grey filly has won twice from three starts under rules, resuming her progress following wind surgery at Haydock on very testing ground last time when beating Californian Angel by over a length.

Her only blemish came when she no-showed at Newmarket in the Group Two Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, but recent improvement following wind surgery suggests she's back to her best. Also has winning form on good ground, so she isn’t dependent on bottomless ground.

This Saturday's feature is the Ayr Gold Cup, run over six furlongs. A maximum field of 25 runners will take their chance, and many cases can be made.

Horses aged between four and six, those carrying weights between 8-10 and 9-6, and runners beaten last time out deserve respect. High draws have also excelled, with 70% of the winners since 2000 being drawn eight or higher.

At a massive price, Hammer The Hammer has threatened to be competitive in big handicaps throughout the season, finishing within eight lengths of the winner in the Wokingham and nine lengths of Evening Saigon in the Stewards’ Cup.

This could have been the yard's long-term target, with Kevin Ryan having trained the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup five times since 2007.
