Bristol Rovers will welcome Burton Albion to the Memorial Stadium this Saturday afternoon as both sides look to get back to winning ways as the home team looks to potentially close the gap on the playoff spots.
A position in the top six playoff places for Bristol doesn't seem likely this season, but fans were beginning to hope after close the gap to nine points just two weeks ago after an away win over Exeter City. Brandon Aguilera's goal that day moved Rovers into 10th in League One in what was their 11th win of the season.
However, in what was their 12th defeat of the campaign, Bristol have once again fallen adrift of the playoff spots by 12 points after a stunning home defeat to the relegation-fighting Fleetwood Town. Chris Martin was also sent off in that match, and he now misses this game.
As for Burton Albion, they have 14 defeats already on the board and have scored a dismal record of just 25 goals scored so far. This sees the club with eight wins and eight draws too.
Butron have been poor once again this calendar year, as they've managed to lose to Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day before a 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers. The Brewers were also booted out of the Football League Trophy in a 2-1 loss earlier in January before they went on to lose 3-2 away to Derby County. Burton's only win in the past seven games in 2024 was against Charlton Athletic - Mark Helm and John Brayford both scored goals in that game.
Such form leaves Burton in 18th right now and with a gap of only seven points on the bottom three, as they were also beaten by Lincoln City last time out.
