          Burton Albion vs Stevenage Preview, Tips & Stats

          Burton Albion host Stevenage at the Pirelli Stadium this Saturday in a big weekend of League One football. The two sides sit at opposite ends of the table and will be looking to add three points to their total.

          Burton currently sit 17th in League One after 19 games. The Brewers have five wins, five draws and nine losses, leaving them on 20 points and five points above the relegation zone but 13 points below the Play-offs.

          In their last five games in all competitions, Burton have two wins and three losses. In the Replays of the First round of the FA Cup, Burton hosted Port Vale. Gavin Massey and Lewis Cass both scored to give Port Vale the 2 - 0 win after the 0 - 0 draw in the first game. In the Football League Trophy, Burton faced Mansfield Town. George Cooper opened the scoring in the 21st minute, but Cole Stockton equalised before halftime. Tom Hamer then gave Burton the lead early in the second half, a 2 - 1 lead they held onto until the end.

          The trip to Peterborough was not a day to remember for Burton. Joel Randall, Ephron Mason-Clark and Kwame Poku all scored along with an own goal from Stockton in a dominant 4 - 0 win for Peterborough, where Burton had just 29% of the possession. Another loss came Burton’s way against top of the league Portsmouth. A penalty from Colby Bishop and a goal from Alex Robertson gave Portsmouth the 2 - 0 win, with Steve Seddon being sent off in the 90th minute for Burton.

          The last time out for Burton was in the Football League Trophy against Wrexham. Deji Oshilaja, Mark Helm and Ryan Sweeney all scored in the 3 - 2 win over Wrexham.

          Stevanage, on the other hand currently, sit fourth in League One. In 20 games, Stevenage have ten wins, six draws and four losses which leaves them on 36 points, just three points from automatic promotion and six points from top of the table Portsmouth.

          In their last five games in all competitions, Burton have three wins and two draws. In the Football League Trophy, Stevenage hosted Crystal Palace’s U21 team. An own goal from Joe Sheridan opened the scoring and Jake Forster-Caskey doubled Stevenage’s lead before the 15 minute mark. Malcolm Ebiowei and Ademola Oladipupo Ola-Adebomi got Palace back into it but a goal from Harvey White and a brace from Aaron Pressley gave Stevenage the 5 - 2 win. Back in League One, Jamie Reid scored the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win over Lincoln.

          Another win came Stevenage’s way against Fleetwood. Reid, Ben Thompson and Elliott List all scored in the 3 - 0 win over Fleetwood despite only having 37% of the possession and just three shots on target. Luther Wildin and Thompson gave Stevenage the early lead against Peterborough, but in the second half Randall and Rickey-Jade Jones both scored to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Peterborough.

          The most recent outing for Stevenage was against Port Vale in the Second round of the FA Cup. Reid scored once again, but a penalty from Funso Ojo meant the game finished 1 - 1.

          This weekend will be the 20th meeting between Burton and Stevenage, a fixture that Stevenage have a better record in. Stevenage have nine wins in comparison to Burton’s six wins, with the other four games ending in a draw.
