Cambridge United vs Burton Albion Preview, Tips & Stats

The Abbey Stadium hosts Cambridge United and Burton Albion this Saturday in League One. Both sides sit in the bottom half of the table and will be looking for a three point haul to put some more wiggle room between themselves and the relegation zone.

Cambridge United currently sit 14th in League One after 26 games. The Us have eight wins, seven draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 31 points, tied with Burton and eight points above the relegation zone, with two games in hand.

In their last five games in all competitions, Cambridge have one win, one draw and three losses.

Jordan Cousins opened the scoring for Cambridge and gave them the 1 - 0 lead over Oxford United at halftime. However, in the second half, Tyler Goodrham and Ciaron Brown both scored to give Oxford the 2 - 1 win. Both goals in the game against Leyton Orient came in a three minute spell. Jordan Brown and Dan Agyei both scored for Orient early in the second half to give them the 2 - 0 win.

In the Third Round of the FA Cup, Cambridge took on Championship side Blackburn Rovers. Jack Lankester gave Cambridge the lead in the sixth minute, but Sammie Szmodics’ first goal levelled the game. Sullay Kaikai put The Us back ahead but Szmodics completed his hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Arnor Sigurosson and Harry Leonard to give Blackburn the 5 - 2 win. Back in League One, Cambridge hosted Fleetwood. Lyle Taylor opened the scoring in the 71 minute but Promise Omochere equalised for Fleetwood within six minutes. However, Kaikai popped up with a goal in the 91st minute to give Cambridge the 2 - 1 win.

The last time out for Cambridge was against Exeter City. The Us had six shots, with none on target, playing out a 0 - 0 draw.

Burton sit just below Cambridge in 15th in League One. In 28 games, Burton have eight wins, seven draws and 13 losses which leaves them on 31 points, equal with Cambridge and eight points above the relegation zone.

In their last five games in all competitions, Burton have one win, one draw and three losses.

A Jasper Moon own goal early in the second half was the only goal of the game in a 1 - 0 win for Bolton with Burton only managing one shot on target. Burton took the lead against Wycombe with a goal from Beryly Lubala in the early stages of the first half. However, Sam Vokes scored ten minutes later to level the game as Burton and Wycombe settled for a 1 - 1 draw.

In the Football League Trophy Third Round, Burton took on Blackpool. Matty Virtue gave Blackpool the early lead in the fourth minute, with Marvin Akpereogene Paul Edem Ekpiteta doubling their lead in the second half. Dylan Scott got Burton on the scoresheet but it was too late as Blackpool secured the 2 - 1 win. Back in League One, Burton faced Derby County. Tom Barkhuizen and James Collins gave Derby the 2 - 0 lead early in the second half. Steve Seddon and Joe Hugill clawed Burton level but a 93rd minute goal from Conor Hourihane gave Derby the 3 - 2 win.

Cambridge United and Burton Albion have only met eight times in their histories, the first meeting coming as recently as 2014. Not much separates the two sides with Cambridge picking up four wins and Burton grabbing three wins with just one draw between the two sides.
