15th takes on 19th in League One over this international break with Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town in dreadful form in the early stages of this new season where the U's were expected to challenge towards the top end of the division.
It was a great end to last season for Cambridge following on from what was another tough start. This campaign, however, the club come into this one off the back of a drop into 15th as a result of a second loss in a row and a six-game winless run since beating Reading 1-0 back in early September. This has seen the club lose 2-0 to Peterborough United in the Football League Trophy before a 2-1 loss away to Wigan Athletic.
Cambridge would finally get a point when they met with Port Vale a few days later, as Fejiri Okenabirhie scored in the second half to bring the club to a 1-1 draw and earn them a rare point. Another draw would come in against Derby County soon after, as the U's played out a dull 0-0 draw.
A move back to home for Mark Bonner's men was up next where Barnsley smashed Cambridge 4-0 on home soil in what was easily their worst result of the season. Bonner's side then met with Burton Albion, as Okenabirhie continued to prove why he is wanted by other clubs in the EFL with a goal in the second half. On the other hand, across the past three games, Cambridge have only managed to have just five shots on target.
The only other wins for Bonner this season has seen his side beat Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers 2-0 in both games, while they also defeated Oxford United by the same scoreline. This saw the club win their first three games of the season before going on a poor run and dropping into 15th from third.
As for Shrewsbury, things are even worse for them, despite defeating Northampton Town in their last outing with a late finish from star man, Daniel Udoh.
Prior to this, however, Salop would lose to Oxford United in a 3-0 battering away from home before drawing 0-0 and going on to lose 1-0 to Leyton Orient and 2-0 at home to Bristol Rovers. More losses in the EFL Trophy to Forest Green Rovers and a defeat in the league to Carlisle United sees Shrewsbury down in 19th and not looking good in cup competitions either.
