Carlisle vs Exeter Predictions, Tips & Stats

Carlisle United are back at Brunton Park for the second time this week with Exeter City making the lengthy trip up north on Saturday afternoon with both sides dropping points once again this past Tuesday.

Carlisle met with Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night for the first set of midweek League One games, and the Cumbrians had to fight from behind to snatch a point against the Latics after Owen Moxon scored in the second half.

The club are still winless in all competitions as a result, with the club losing to Harrogate Town in the EFL Cup first round before suffering a loss to Oxford United last weekend back in League One. This means their only points have been in the midweek draw with Wigan and a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town where Moxon scored another goal.

As for Exeter, they have put together one win, one draw and a defeat so far after a midweek loss to Portsmouth. The club drew 0-0 with Blackpool just before that and it does now mean two games without a goal for the Devon club.

Exeter did beat Crawley Town in the EFL Cup first round after a finish each from Kyle Taylor and James Scott in a game that saw them have 20 shots on goal. Exeter would also stun Wycombe Wanderers in their opening game of the season with a stunning 3-0 win at Adams Park that saw Jack Aitchison and Will Aimson score a goal each in the first four minutes before James Scott added a third seven minutes from time.

              Carlisle team news

Ellis, Huntington, Lavelle and Armer have been the back four this season for Carlisle and they should all remain, although the latter two did get booked in the last outing at home to Wigan Athletic. Guy and Owen Moxon should remain in defence, as the latter scored in the draw with the Latics. Maguire came off during the week after he was booked, but he is fit to start once more and should do so alongside Edmondson. Ben Barclay and Luke Plange are likely to come in as well, but we should see Joe Garner, Daniel James Butterworth and Alife McCalmont all get game time after missing the midweek clash.

              Exeter city team news

Aitchison remains the main man for Exeter these days up top and he should remain, but it looks as if Scott could miss out here after coming off with an injury in the loss to Portsmouth. Sam Nombe should come in now, while Sonny Cox will bid for a starting role as well. In midfield, Reece Cole and Kyle Taylor could come in after missing out during the week in the trip to Fratton Park, but Mitchell and Carroll should remain here, as Trevitt and Rankine remain too. We expect Hartridge, Aimson and Sweeney to all remain in defence in this one.
