Two sides eyeing up a spot in the top half this season will meet at Brunton Park with Carlisle United set to play hosts to Leyton Orient this international break weekend with both teams in diabolical form right now.
After much hope at the start of the season for these two sides that earned promotion from League One, things have turned very sour at both clubs. Carlisle were expected to fight towards the top end of the third tier table after defeating Stockport County in the League Two playoff final on penalties, but they now head into this match down in 20th and off the back of a dismal loss to Nottingham Forest U21s.
Despite the terrible form, however, the club did manage to defeat Bolton Wanderers 3-1 in League One last weekend with a hat-trick from Jordan Gibson that saw him scored from the penalty spot amongst the eight shots on target in what was a sensational display from Paul Simpson's men.
Carlisle also come into this one having previously failed to win their five games before that with draws against Stevenage and Lincoln City before losses against Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers, both by a 2-0 scoreline. The club also drew 1-1 with Peterborough United two weeks ago.
As for Leyton Orient, their form looks a little better with only five losses on the board and four wins compared to Carlisle's two victories, but they are coming into this one with just 10 goals scored. Orient did also beat Reading 2-1 in their last outing with goals from Jordan Brown and George Moncur, as the latter won it late on with a finish in stoppage time.
