Charlton Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday will meet in League One action off the back of another excellent win for the away side with the Owls now top of the table in League One and the clear favourites to get promoted into the Championship for next season.
The only negative this past month for Wednesday has been their exit in the FA Cup to Fleetwood Town. League One form was always the key for Darren Moore this season, however, and his men now sit top of the table after smashing MK Dons 5-2 at home.
Michael Smith scored twice in the second half that day, as Josh Windass was the game's first goalscorer for Wednesday once more. George Byers also netted, as Lee Gregory scored off the bench. Moore's men also defeated Morecambe 3-0 last weekend, while also drawing with Ipswich Town 2-2 two weeks ago. Combine this with their excellent 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle at Hillsborough and it now means they are ahead of the Pilgrims on goals difference with both sides on 68 points. Better yet for the Yorkshire outfit, they are ahead of Plymouth by a superior goals difference of 11 goals with a game in hand.
As for Charlton, they lost 2-0 to Derby County last Saturday to now launch them down into 11th in the table with 10 wins, 10 draws and 11 losses. It still keeps them well clear of the relegation zone and in the top half of the table, although the playoff spots are now 16 points ahead of Charlton's spot in 11th.
