Cheltenham Town are looking to stay just above the relegation zone when they meet with Burton Albion in a battle down at the bottom end of the League One division with the Brewers also edging closer and closer to the bottom three.
The form continues to get worse and becomes more alarming by the week for Burton with them now securing only two wins in the past five games, losing the other three, and getting to within only six points of the bottom three. Worse yet, most clubs around down at the bottom have a game in hand to play over them, such as Port Vale in 22nd and Cheltenham in 21st.
Burton suffered their 16th loss of the season last time out, which also means they have now scored only 29 times after firing a blank in a dreadful home defeat to Carlisle United - only Cheltenham, Shrewsbury Town and Exeter City have scored fewer goals for those outside of the bottom three.
The home defeat to Carlisle was arguably the worst loss of the season for the Brewers, given their position in the relegation zone. Ultimately, it has further worried fans at the Pirelli Stadium in terms of a move into the drop zone over time.
Burton also lost at home last weekend in a 2-0 defeat to Northampton Town, meaning their only wins in February were over Leyton Orient and Bristol Rovers, both of which came on the road. In fact, with them only beating Shrewsbury and Blackpool on home soil in the past two months, it means their home record is just as good as their away one since December.
Cheltenham are finally out of the drop zone with a recent winning run seeing them go from 23rd to 21st and create a one-point gap on Port Vale in 22nd. They did lose in midweek to Wycombe Wanderers, which was their second defeat to them in February.
On the other hand, a must-win battle with fellow strugglers Port Vale saw them win 3-2 at home, and combined with victories over Cambridge United and Blackpool, the Robins suffered only those two losses to Wycombe during the February.
