Stevenage are looking for a swift return to the win column when they meet with Cheltenham Town this weekend after a fantastic return to League One action sees them up in the top five ahead of this one.
Despite a fantastic season in League Two last time out, not much was expected of Stevenage in their first season back in League One in terms of a playoff battle. On the other hand, their fantastic goalscoring form that saw them net the second most goals in the fourth tier last season was always going to trouble sides.
So far, the club have put together four wins from eight games and managed to lose only once so far - only Portsmouth and Lincoln City can match this form so far. Better yet, Stevenage have also managed to score 11 times and are only outscored by four other clubs before this weekend.
Stevenage drew with Charlton Athletic last weekend at home for what was their second draw in a row. Jamie Reid bagged in that game against Charlton after bagging both goals in the 2-2 draw with Carlisle United. The club continued to show their worth in the attacking sense that day with 13 shots on target across the two games.
The only loss they have suffered this season has been to Reading in a 2-0 loss, while they have also managed to defeat both fellow promoted sides from League Two, Leyton Orient and Northampton Town, both away from home.
As for Cheltenham, it's been an astonishingly terrible start for them. Incredibly, they have set a new record for being the first club to fail to score a single goal after eight games in League One, letting in 12 in the process too. This has also seen them draw 0-0 in what is their only point of the season.
During the week, the Robins met with Peterborough United and the 3-0 defeat was also coupled with a red card in either half for James Olayinka and Nathan Butler-Oyedji - these two will now miss this game. In reality, with these injuries and the dreadful form that has seen Cheltenham completely fail to score a league goal, there's no way they beat an in-form Stevenage.
