Wigan Athletic continue to attempt to rise up the League One table as they face Cheltenham Town this weekend.
Cheltenham Town currently sit 23rd in League One with two wins, two draws and eleven losses from fifteen games so far this season.
It's been a predictably tough season for Cheltenham thus far as they find themselves firmly in the relegation mix after the opening few months of the campaign.
They're coming into this game amidst a mixed run of form having won two and lost three of their last five games.
Their most recent encounter saw them lose 0-4 to West Ham United U21 in the EFL Trophy and prior to that they fell to a 5-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup.
Their most recent league game, though, ended in a huge 2-1 win over Port Vale thanks to a Sean Long brace, so they'll be hoping to channel that performance coming into this one.
Despite losing their three games prior, Cheltenham have taken four points from their last two home games in the league so they'll feel in pretty decent shape entering this game despite the two heavy defeats in the cup this week.
Wigan are a tough proposition for Cheltenham but a result is not out of the question.
Wigan Athletic currently sit 17th in League One with eight wins, one draw and seven losses from sixteen games so far this season.
The Latics have had a satisfactory if not somewhat underwhelming first few months of the season as they find themselves with a record that would have them currently in 7th place if not for the eight points deduction that will handicap them all season.
They're entering this game in excellent form having won four of their last five games, the most recent of which was a 2-1 win over Peterborough United thanks to goals from Martial Godo and Callum McManaman.
Away from home Wigan have been solid in their very recent outings as they come into this game having won both of their last two away games by a 2-0 scoreline.
These two sides have met only four times in their history with two games finishing 0-0 and the other two finishing 2-0 to Wigan, so the North West side have an advantage in that regard.
Wigan look as though they're picking up a head of steam and are looking to maintain their momentum heading into the packed Christmas schedule, and given Cheltenham's struggles this season it's hard to see Wigan falling to defeat here.
For our Cheltenham vs. Wigan prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
