Cheltenham vs Wycombe Prediction, Tips & Stats

Two teams fighting down at the bottom of League One will battle it our here in with Cheltenham Town aiming to close the gap on the safe spots in the third tier where there is a four-point gap.

Despite sitting in the relegation zone still, Cheltenham are coming into this game with a gap of only four points on the safe spot, which is a massive contrast to how things have been in previous months.

In fact, it took Cheltenham over two months to get their first win of the season, but they now sit with six on the board and are close to tracking down Reading in 21st place. Better yet, the Robins have a game in hand over the Royals and can move that gap to just one point in the coming weeks, should things go in their favour.

The club are still coming into this game with a two-game losing run and only one victory in the past five games and month. This stunning win did see them defeat Portsmouth 2-1, as Liam Sercombe carried on his excellent form with two goals in the second half, both of which came within three minutes of one another.

Since then, however, Bolton Wanderers and Derby County have managed to beat them by a mere goal, as Sercombe netted once more in the 2-1 away loss to Derby.

The last win before this for the relegation-fighting side came at home to Shrewsbury as part of a two-game winning run before a draw with Reading and loss to Northampton Town. George Lloyd bagged a goal in either half against Shrewsbury, as Sercombe was amongst the goals once again in a 1-0 win away to Carlisle United.

It's also been a tough season for Wycombe Wanderers, who head into this match only one more win on the board and 11 defeats too. This has seen the club rack up 32 goals and let in 28 as well, while the Wanderers also have to deal with the fact Port Vale below them have two games in hand, which could force Wycombe into as low as 21st very soon.

Nevertheless, Wycombe are into the semi-finals of the Football League Trophy after beating Brighton U21s 4-1 on Wednesday, as they also drew 2-2 with Fleetwood Town last time out in the league.
