Derby County vs Carlisle United Preview, Tips & Stats

Pride Park hosts Derby County and Carlisle United this Saturday in the League One early kick off. Derby look to secure promotion whereas Carlisle aim for a big win after their relegation in the last game of the season.

Derby County currently sit second in League One after 45 games. The Rams have 27 wins, eight draws and ten losses, leaving them on 89 points, just three points above Bolton.

In their last five games in all competitions, Derby have three wins and two draws.

Ebou Adams scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute to give Derby the 1 - 0 win over Blackpool, despite having just 42% of the possession and three less shots. The trip to top of the league Portsmouth saw Joe Ward open the scoring for Derby in the 23rd minute, but Abu Kamara equalised for Pompey just four minutes later. Ward scored again to regain the lead for Derby before halftime but a late goal from Owen Moxon rescued a 2 - 2 draw for Pompey.

The next time out for Derby saw them take on Wycombe. The Rams failed to register a single shot on target in 90 minutes, though Wycombe were unable to find the back of the net with their three shots on target as the game finished 0 - 0. Derby bounced back against Leyton Orient. Kane Wilson opened the scoring in the tenth minute and Sonny Bradley doubled the lead before the 20 minute mark. Bradley added another in the 86th minute to give Derby the 3 - 0 win.

The last time out for Derby was against Cambridge United. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scored the only goal of the game in the 39th minute to give Derby the 1 - 0 win.

Carlisle, on the other hand, currently sit bottom of the League One table, already relegated. In 45 games, Carlisle have seven wins, nine draws and 29 losses which leaves them on 30 points, ten points from the nearest team Port Vale.

In their last five games in all competitions, Carlisle have one win and four losses.

The visit from Lincoln saw Samuel Lavelle on the scoresheet late on for Carlisle, but this was more of a consolation goal, despite Carlisle having more shots on target. Ben House, Joe Taylor and Teddy Bishop all scored for Lincoln in a 3 - 1 win for The Imps. Kieron Bowie and Ali Koiki both scored for Northampton Town to give them the 2 - 0 win, with Carlisle only managing two shots on target.

Lavelle was on the scoresheet again for Carlisle, this time scoring the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute to give them the 1 - 0 win over Cheltenham. Karamoko Dembele opened the scoring in the first minute for Blackpool and despite having the rest of the game, Carlisle had zero shots on target and slumped to a 1 - 0 loss.

The most recent outing for Carlisle was against Wycombe. Garath McCleary gave Wycombe the lead in the 15th minute but Alfie McCalmont equalised for Carlisle before halftime. Richard Kone regained the lead for Wycombe early in the second half and another goal from McClearly gave Wycombe the 3 - 1 win.

Derby and Carlisle have met 23 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1955. Derby have the marginally better record in the fixture with nine wins in comparison to Carlisle’s eight wins, with the other six games ending in a draw.
