For our Derby vs. Cheltenham prediction, we're going for a 2-0 win for the home side.
Derby County are desperately looking to get their momentum back on track as they welcome Cheltenham Town to Pride Park this week.
Derby County currently sit 6th in League One with sixteen wins, nine draws and seven losses from thirty-two games this season.
Generally speaking, consistency has been a major issue for The Rams this season having started extremely slowly before putting together an impressive run that gave the impression they’d finally found their feet only before starting to wobble once more.
They enter this game amidst a mixed run of form having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches in the league, the most recent of which was a thumping 4-1 defeat at fellow play-off contenders Barnsley.
The defeat at Oakwell was very damning and very much exposed the extent of Derby’s decline in form, with a clear gap between to ostensibly equal sides being exhibited.
Their form at home is still fairly strong, though, having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches on home soil in the league.
Derby desperately need to try to rediscover the form that saw them go fifteen games unbeaten in the league as on their current trajectory their place in the top six is under threat. This game is, though, an ideal opportunity to return to winning ways as they face a struggling Cheltenham side.
Cheltenham Town currently sit 19th in League One with nine wins, six draws and seventeen losses from thirty-two games this season.
The Robins have been up and down form-wise this season and did well to put a significant gap between themselves and the relegation zone with an impressive run of form mid-season, but a recent and sustained decline has seen them gradually slide back towards danger as they now find themselves just two points clear of the drop zone.
They enter this game amidst a poor run of form in the league having won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five league matches, the most recent of which was a 4-0 battering at Portsmouth at the weekend.
The result at Portsmouth was their second consecutive 4-0 loss, a result that will have aroused significant concern amongst the fan base.
Their away record is even more concerning coming into this game having won one and lost four of their last five league matches on the road.
Cheltenham were beaten 2-3 by Derby when the two sides met in the league last month and considering Derby have home advantage here it’s hard to see the result changing.
