Exeter City host Carlisle United at St James Park this Saturday in a jam-packed weekend of League One football. Both sides sit in the bottom half of the League One table, in need of a win to try get themselves into the best possible position for survival.
Exeter City currently sit 21st in League One after 24 games. The Grecians have six wins, five draws and 16 losses, leaving them on 23 points, three points above the relegation zone, but with a game in hand on many around them.

A red card to Jack Aitchison in the 43rd minute allowed Stevenage’s Carl Piergianni to give them the lead in the added time of the first half. However, Yani Wildschut scored early in the second half as ten-man Exeter held on for a 1 - 1 draw. Next time out saw Exeter on the losing side against Cambridge United. A penalty from Gassan Ahadme and a goal from Elias Kachunga gave Cambridge the 2 - 0 win.
The one win came against Wycombe. Sonny Cox scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to give Exeter the 1 - 0 win and all three points. However, their next opponents were top of the table Portsmouth. Both teams could only manage two shots on target as they played out a goalless draw.
The last time out for Exeter was against Reading. Dion Rankine equalised for Exeter, but Femi Azeez’s late goal gave Reading the 3 - 2 win.
Carlisle also sit in the bottom half of the table, in 22nd. In 25 games, Carlisle have four wins, eight draws and 13 losses which leaves them on 20 points, equal with Cheltenham and three points away from safety.

Shaun Mcwilliams’ goal gave Northampton Town the 1 - 0 lead at halftime, but goals from Jack Armer and Ryan Edmundson gave Carlisle the lead going into the last ten minutes. However, a Kieron Bowie goal in the 93rd minute grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Northampton. Liam Sercombe scored the only goal of the game in the first half to give Cheltenham a big 1 - 0 win over Carlisle.
Owen Moxon opened the scoring for Carlisle but Jayden Stockley equalised for Fleetwood before halftime. Neither team scored in the second half as the game finished 1 - 1. A penalty from Josh Magennis and a goal from Liam Morrison gave Wigan the 2 - 0 win over Carlisle.
The most recent outing for Carlisle was against Port Vale. Ben Garrity gave Port Vale the lead in the first few minutes of the second half, but a penalty from Jordan Gibson and a 93rd minute goal from Jon James Alexander Mellish, Carlisle bagged a 2 - 1 win.
