Fleetwood Town vs Burton Albion Preview, Tips & Stats

Highbury Stadium welcomes Fleetwood Town and Burton Albion this Saturday in League One. In the last game of the season, Burton need a win to hold off Cheltenham and potential relegation, whereas Fleetwood have already been relegated and will be aiming to go out with a win.

Fleetwood currently sit 22nd in League One after 45 games. The Fishermen have nine wins, 13 draws and 23 losses, leaving them on 40 points, six points from safety.

In their last five games in all competitions, Fleetwood have two wins and three losses.

The trip to Oxford saw Fleetwood only register three shots on target as a brace from Mark Harris and goals from Cameron Brannagan and Owen Dale gave Oxford the 4 - 0 win. The next trip away was another loss for Fleetwood, this time against Blackpool. Jake Beesley scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute to give Blackpool the 1 - 0 win over Fleetwood.

Fleetwood bounced back with a win over Northampton Town. Promise Omochere opened the scoring in the fifth minute and Bosun Lawal doubled the lead on the 30 minute mark. Fleetwood restricted Northampton to just one shot on target as Fleetwood picked up a 2 - 0 win. Lawal was on the scoresheet again for Fleetwood, this time giving them the lead against Peterborough in the first minute, though Malik Mothersille equalised for The Posh before halftime. In the late stages of the game, Archie Finn Collins gave Peterborough the lead in the 81st minute and Jonson Clarke-Harris added another two in extra time to give The Posh the 4 - 1 win.

The last time out for Fleetwood was against Leyton Orient. Xavier Simons scored the only goal of the game in the 93rd minute to give Fleetwood the 1 - 0 win.

Burton sit just above Fleetwood in 20th in League One. In 45 games, Burton have 12 wins, ten draws and 23 losses which leaves them on 46 points, just two points above the last relegation zone spot.

In their last five games in all competitions, Burton have two wins and three losses.

Joe Powell gave Burton the 1 - 0 lead at halftime, but in a 15 minute period early in the second half, a brace from John McAtee and a goal from Luca Connell gave Barnsley the 3 - 1 win. The visit from Oxford United was one to forget for Burton. A brace from Harris and goals from Josh Murphy and James Henry gave Oxford the 4 - 0 win, with Burton having just two shots on target.

Burton bounced back against a ten-man Stevenage. Mark Helm gave Burton the lead at the break and after the red card to Dan Butler, Tom Hamer doubled the lead. Kane Hemmings did score late on for Stevenage, but Burton held on for a 2 - 1 win. However, in a big game against Cheltenham, Burton were on the wrong side on the 2 - 1 scoreline. Steve Seddon gave Burton the lead in the first half added time but goals from Matt Taylor and Curtis Davis gave Cheltenham the 2 - 1 win.

The most recent outing for Burton was against Reading. Mason Bennett and Mustapha Carayol both scored to give Burton the 2 - 0 lead at the ten minute mark. Lewis Wing got Reading on the scoresheet in the first half but Bobby Kamwa made it 3 - 1 before halftime. Sam Smith converted his penalty in the second half, but Burton held on for a 3 - 2 win.

Fleetwood and Burton have met 21 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming as recently as 2012. Not much separates the two sides, with Burton picking up ten wins and Fleetwood picking up nine wins, the other two games ending in a draw.
