Fleetwood Town and Cambridge United will meet in gameweek two of the League One season after a contrasting set of results so far in the 2023/24 campaign that has seen both sides lose in the first round of the EFL Cup.
Fleetwood suffered a loss on the road to Port Vale in their last outing during the week, although they did take an early lead thanks to a goal after five minutes from Cian Hayes. Ryan Graydon also scored for the club that day, as Fleetwood saw 62% of the ball and had five shots on target that day too.
Scott Brown's men drew with Carlisle United on the opening game of the season after Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu netted in the first half to equalise in a 1-1 clash. Despite being at home, poor results so far sees Fleetwood priced at 5/4 to get all three points in this game.
As for Cambridge, they went on to beat Oxford United on matchday one after a 2-0 victory that saw Jack Lankester score once more just as Gassan Ahadme carried on his excellent form from last season with a goal in the first half.
Fejri Okenabirhie scored twice in the game against Sutton United on Tuesday, but after a late equaliser from the League Two side, they would go on to win the match on penalties.
