Fleetwood vs Lincoln City Preview, Tips & Stats

Lincoln City travel to Highbury Stadium to face Fleetwood this Saturday in a weekend of League One football that could have a big effect on the table. Both sides are in the bottom half of the table and need a win to put more room between them and the relegation zone.

Fleetwood currently sit 21st in League One after 11 games. The Fishermen have two wins, two draws and seven losses, leaving them on eight points, just two points above the relegation zone.

In their last five games in all competitions, Fleetwood have two wins, a draw and two losses. The draw came against Burton, where Joe Powell opened the scoring in the 17th minute, with Junior Quitirna equalising just minutes later as the game finished 1 - 1. Jack Marriott scored the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win for Fleetwood over Leyton Orient, but both teams ended the game with ten men as Carl Johnston and Ethan Galbraith were both sent off in the ninth minute of extra time.

Quitirna and Marriott were on the scoresheet again in The Fishermens’ 2 - 0 win over Cheltenham, with Cheltenham finishing the game with ten men after Curtis Davies was sent off in the second half. However, Fleetwood were on the losing side against Wycombe. Marriott scored again for Fleetwood, but with Ben Heneghan sent off, Fleetwood slumped to a 4 - 1 loss, with Freddie Potts and Luke Leahy scoring and Dale Taylor grabbing a brace.

The last time out for Fleetwood was in the Football League Trophy against Wigan. Josh Earl found the back of the net along with a brace from Kabongo Tshimanga in the 3 - 3 draw. However, in the ensuing penalty shootout, Danny Mayor, Xavier Simons and Ryan Broom all missed to give WIgan the 4 - 3 win.

Lincoln City sit just five places above Fleetwood in 16th. After 11 games, Lincoln have four wins, three draws and four losses, leaving them on 15 points and nine points from the relegation zone.

In their last five games in all competitions, Lincoln have two wins and three losses. In the Third Round of the League Cup, Lincoln hosted Premier League West Ham. Tomas Soucek grabbed the only goal of the game as West Ham won 1 - 0. Lincoln bounced back in the league against Cheltenham. Lasse Sorensen bagged a brace in the first half as Lincoln beat Cheltenham 2 - 0.

The game against Leyton Orient was abandoned after 84 minutes after a fan received CPR on the side of the pitch. The game against Peterborough saw Lincoln fail to register a single shot on target as David Ajiboye and Joel Randall both scored to give The Posh the 2 - 0 win. In the Football League Trophy Lincoln faced the Wolves U21 team. Hakeeb Adelakun and Jovon Makama both scored to give Lincoln the 2 - 0 win.

The most recent outing for Lincoln was against Burton. Daniel Mandriou was sent off and Jack Burroughs scored an own goal to give Burton the 1 - 0 win.

Fleetwood and Lincoln have met just seven times in their histories, with the first meeting coming as recently as 2019. Not much separates the two teams, as both have two wins to their name, with a draw more common, happening on three occasions.

          Fleetwood Team News

Lee Johson has no new injury worries coming into this weekend. This means Johnson can stick with his preferred 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 formation with Marriott up front, supported by Quitirna, Josh Vela and Promise Omochere. Heneghan may still be unavailable due to his sending off against Wycombe.

          Lincoln City Team News

Mark Kennedy has a couple of injury worries in his squad, mainly in the striker role. Ben House, Tyler Walker and Jack Vale are all unavailable due to injury.
