Fleetwood Town vs Peterborough United Preview, Tips & Stats

Fleetwood Town welcome Peterborough United to Highbury Stadium this Saturday in a big weekend at both ends of the table in League One. Though Peterborough are in the thick of the fight for Play-off football, Fleetwood are precariously close to the relegation zone.

Fleetwood currently sit 21st in League One after 19 games. The Fishermen have four wins, four draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 16 points, just one point above Carlisle and two points behind Exeter City above them.

In their last five games in all competitions, Fleetwood have five losses.

Jamie Reid, Ben Thompson and Elliott List all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Stevenage despite Fleetwood having 63% of the possession and three more shots on target. Fleetwood were handed another 3 - 0 loss by Wigan. Jordan Jones scored in the fourth minute and Sean Clare doubled the lead before halftime, with Fleetwood down to ten men with Josh Earl sent off in added time of the first half. Tom Pearce then scored in the second half to give Wigan the 3 - 0 win.

In the Second round of the FA Cup, Fleetwood faced Cambridge United. Danny Andrew, Elias Kachunga, Fejiri Okenabirhie and Gassan Ahadme all scored in the 4 - 0 win for Cambridge as Fleetwood crashed out of the cup. Fleetwood were out of another cup competition within a week, this time the Football League Trophy. A brace from James Collins and a goal from Tyreece John-Jules gave Derby the 3 - 0 win.

Yet another 3 - 0 loss came Fleetwood’s way next time out, this time against Northampton Town. A brace from Mitch Pinnock and a penalty from Sam Hoskins gave Northampton the 3 - 0 win.

Peterborough, on the other hand, are fourth in League One. In 20 games, Peterborough have 11 wins, five draws and four losses which leaves them on 38 points, two points within the Play-offs and one point from automatic promotion.

In their last five games in all competitions, Peterborough have four wins and one draw.

Joel Randall, Ephron Mason-Clarke and Kwame Poku all scored along with an own goal from Cole Stockton in a 4 - 0 win for Peterborough over Burton Albion. The draw came against Stevenage next time out. Luther Wildin and Ben Thompson put Stevenage into a 2 - 0 lead, but goals from Joel Randall and Ricky-Jade Jones grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Peterborough.

In the FA Cup Second round, Peterborough hosted Doncaster Rovers. Harrison Burrows opened the scoring in the third minute for The Posh and in the second half, Mason-Clarke doubled Peterborough’s lead early in the second half. Modou Faal did get on the scoresheet for Doncaster, but it wasn’t enough as Peterborough won 2 - 1. In the Second round of the Football League Trophy, Peterborough hosted Arsenal’s U21 team. Ryan de Havilland, Jonson Clarke-Harris and Malik Mothersille all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Peterborough.

The Posh picked up another 3 - 0 win, this time against Oxford United. Hector Kyprianou, Jones and de Havilland all scored in a big 3 - 0 win for Peterborough which was a big win in the battle for Play-off football.

Fleetwood and Peterborough have only met 16 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming as recently as 2014. Nothing separates the two sides, as both Fleetwood and Peterborough have seven wins in the fixture, with a draw very uncommon, with just two so far.
