Ipswich vs Burton Prediction, Tips & Stats

Ipswich Town and Burton Albion will meet in League One this weekend with the Tractor Boys looking to chip away at the top two sides in the league with the club narrowly ahead of Bolton Wanderers in fourth and sitting comfortably in the playoffs.

Despite Ipswich dropping off the top spot in the league over the past few weeks and now behind Sheffield Wednesday by eight points, they are still six clear of Derby County in sixth place, although the club have played more games than everyone in the top six besides Bolton. Ultimately, Kieran McKenna's men could end up dropping out of the top five in a matter of weeks if results go against them.

On the other hand, the Tractor Boys are on a four-game unbeaten run since their narrow loss to the Championship league leaders Burnley. This has seen them draw with the current league leaders Wednesday, draw 0-0 with Bristol Rovers and beat Forest Green Rovers 4-0 before a 1-0 victory over MK Dons last weekend.

As for Burton, they are in relatively decent form ahead of this one, although they did lose to Portsmouth two weeks ago. Outside of that defeat, Burton have managed to defeat Oxford United, Fleetwood Town, Exeter City and Bristol Rovers within the past month, although they dropped two points in a goalless draw with Accrington Stanley last weekend.

            Ipswich team news

Ipswich will head into this one with only a few injuries to deal with. Wes Burns and George Hirst came off the last time out in the second half but they will likely play here. Freddie Ladapo is back now, however, and he is expected to start with Marcus Harness likely coming back into the lineup as well. Kayden Jackson is another player who has recently returned to the squad and he could feature here. Massimo Luongo missed the last game and he should feature here with Janoi Donacien also coming off the bench in the last outing.

            Burton team news

Burton have a few injuries to deal with here, as Taylor is set to face a late fitness test before the game. Kamwa came off in the last game with what seemed like an injury, but he should be fit to play here. Charlie Kirk likely comes back into the starting XI as a result of the injuries, while Jonny Smith could start here too with Josh Walker. Conor Shaughnessy is also back in the squad, but Ben Garratt likely sits on the bench once more for MacGillivray in goal.
