Lincoln City vs. Oxford Utd Prediction, Tips & Stats

Oxford United go in search of a much-needed win as they face Lincoln City in League One on Tuesday night.

Lincoln City currently sit 8th in League One with six wins, four draws and four losses from fourteen games so far this season.

The Imps have delivered a strong showing in the first couple of months of the season having looked like a legitimate play-off contender thus far.

They're coming into this game in good form having taken seven points from their last three games, with wins against Fleetwood Town, 1-0, and Charlton Athletic, 3-1, followed up by a 1-1 draw at Exeter City at the weekend.

It's a game that Lincoln will be disappointed not to have won, in fairness, with a first half goal from Alistair Smith cancelled out by an Exeter equaliser in the 81st minute.

Nevertheless, they can be confident about their ability to rebound here given their usually strong home record as they enter this encounter having won four of their six games on their own turf in the league this season.

A win here would be huge for Lincoln's play-off hopes and they'll feel as though they're facing Oxford at exactly the right time. They're slight underdogs here but they won't fall easily.

Oxford United currently sit 2nd in League One with nine wins, two draws and three losses from fourteen games so far this season.

Liam Manning's men entered the campaign amidst a significant amount of expectation with an automatic promotion push firmly on the club's agenda.

They've mostly made good on that promise up until now, but they are coming into this game amidst a notable down period form-wise having failed to win any of their last three league games.

A 1-1 draw with Blackpool preceded a 2-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic and, most recently, a 2-2 draw at home to Wycombe Wanderers.

The draw against Wycombe only came by the skin of their teeth, too, with a 96th minute penalty from Cameron Brannagan rescuing a point for the U's after Rúben Rodrigues' first half strike.

As such, they're coming into this game in a fairly vulnerable state and many would regard this one as a must win as they find themselves in a position whereby a four-match winless run would be approaching rut territory.

Lincoln is a very tough place to go and three points will not come easily, but if they play to their potential there is no reason why they can't win.

For our Lincoln vs. Oxford prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.
