Oxford Utd vs. Accrington Prediction, Tips & Stats

What once looked set to be a dramatic winner-stays-up final day showdown now turns out to be a dead rubber match on the final weekend of the League One calendar as Oxford United face Accrington Stanley.

Oxford United currently sit 19th in League One with eleven wins, fourteen draws and twenty losses from forty-five games this season.

Oxford have had a dismal campaign this time around and there's no doubt that everyone associated with the club as they enter their final game of the campaign.

They looked odds on to slump to relegation a few weeks back but two thumping wins in their last two games have seen them all but secure survival given their favourable goal difference.

Their most recent game saw them them cruise to a 3-0 win away at bottom of the league Forest green Rovers, a result that followed a huge 4-0 win over Cheltenham Town in their prior game.

Their home record has been hit and miss having won just one of their last five home matches, but having won their most recent game they'll be confident coming into this match.

This game is largely a celebratory one for an Oxford side whose fanbase will be glad to be able to attend a game without any pressure for the first time this season.

Accrington Stanley currently sit 23rd in League One with ten wins, eleven draws and twenty-four losses from forty-five games this season.

It's been a highly disappointing season for Stanley who had their relegation confirmed last week as they now sit three points from safety with a goal difference that is inferior to that of MK Dons in 20th by sixteen goals.

Stanley followed up a huge 1-0 win away at Bolton Wanderers with a very deflating 1-2 loss at home to relegation rivals Cambridge United, a huge missed opportunity that could have seen them enter the final day with a huge chance of securing survival.

Stanley have won one and lost five of their last six games of the season, a run that is almost certain to see a relegation threatened team relegated if put together at the very back end of the campaign.

Their away form has been mixed of late having won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five games on the road.

Accrington are playing for pride now and will want to end the season on a positive note, as much as is possible considering their league position.

For our Oxford vs. Accrington prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.
