Oxford United and Bolton Wanderers are back in League One action already for the third game inside seven days for both clubs with the Greater Manchester side aiming to stay in the playoffs with a comfortable position in the top six.
Bolton are sitting with a game in hand to play over Peterborough United just above them in fifth which will now allow them to jump above the Posh with just a two-point gap ahead of this gameweek. At the same time, Wanderers are also ahead of Derby County on goals difference with a game extra to play too.
What's more, Bolton have scored 54 goals this season which is the least inside the top 10, but with just 32 goals let in, they are level with Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday as the best defensive side in the division.
Bolton have also managed to remain unbeaten since their fantastic 4-0 hammering over Plymouth Argyle in the Football League Trophy that saw Kyle Dempsey, Dion Charles, Elias Kachunga and Gethin Jones all get a goal each in the game at Wembley two weeks back.
Ian Evatt's men would defeat Exeter City away from home the week after, as Conor Bradley scored for Bolton in a narrow victory that witnessed Bolton have just two shots on target from six attempts. Declan John was the goalscorer in the next game, as the Greater Manchester club drew 1-1 with Cambridge United.
Oxford, however, are still in tatters right now and far from clear of relegation back into League Two in what is turning out to be a very different season to their playoff attempts last campaign. The U's are sitting above Cambridge United in 22nd by just three points and come into this game with 50 goals let in and 40 conceded after winning only nine games this season - this is the second-fewest defeats after Forest Green Rovers' six victories.
Oxford have now drawn four games in a row since losses to Lincoln City, Derby County, Bristol Rovers and. Plymouth Argyle and this now means a winless run extending all the way back to January 21st where they managed to stun league title challengers Ipswich Town.
