Oxford United are set to host Charlton Athletic at the Kassam Stadium this weekend with the two clubs experiencing completely contrasting starts to life in the 2023/24 season with 14 places keeping them apart in the table after four games.
Oxford are up into fourth before this game with the club managing to register a very impressive win over Barnsley at Oakwell last time out. Tyler Goodrham scored off the bench that day, as Cameron Brannagan also bagged a penalty to get the ball rolling.
This was the third win in a row for Liam Manning's side after a stunning 5-1 loss away to Bristol City in the EFL Cup first round. Manning's side have also beaten Carlisle Untied and Derby County in the first handful of games, as Mark Harris netted the winner against Carlisle before bagging a brace in the 2-1 win over the Rams - he has been arguably the best forward in League One this season so far.
Charlton, however, have lost four in a row after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Newport County in the EFL Cup first round before a loss on the road to Peterborough United four days later. Bristol Rovers and Port Vale would go on to beat Charlton at The Valley soon after where a total of five goals would be conceded by the Addicks.
The club's only win so far has been in a narrow 1-0 home win over Leyton Orient, as George Dobson scored early on in the second half.
