Port Vale are looking to avoid a nervy finish to their League One campaign as they face Bristol Rovers this weekend.
Port Vale currently sit 18th in League One with twelve wins, ten draws and twenty-one losses from forty-three games this season.
It's been a dull season for a Port Vale side that have struggled immensely this campaign, particularly so in the last few months.
Had they not already accrued enough points in the earlier months of the season the prospect of relegation would be far more significant than it is now as they enter this game having won just two of their last nineteen matches while drawing one and losing four of their last five.
Their not fully out of relegation trouble either, as they find themselves six points above the drop zone having played one game more than many of the sides in the bottom four.
Their most recent game saw them fall to a 2-1 defeat away at Ipswich Town, a forgivable result given The Tractor Boys are currently 2nd in the league table.
Port Vale's record at home does read more encouragingly than their overall record having won two of their last five games on home soil. They are, though, still winless in their last three.
Port Vale need another win to avoid what could be a nail biting finish to the season and of their remaining three fixtures this is the easiest on paper.
Bristol Rovers currently sit 15th in League One with fourteen wins, ten draws and seventeen losses from forty-one games this season.
Rovers have had an up and down season but ultimately it has been one that fans will likely have found frustrating given their side have failed to amount to anything despite regularly displaying a propensity to take points off the league's better sides.
They enter this game in mixed form having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 1-2 defeat at home to 3rd place Sheffield Wednesday.
Joey Barton's side will be looking to finish the season strongly and with five games left to pick up points from they can still work themselves into a commendable league position.
They can take confidence from the fact they beat Port Vale 1-0 back in December so they know they match up well with their opponents.
Given Port Vale's abysmal form Barton and his staff will be eyeing this game as one of their side's better chances to pick up three points in the final run-in of their season.
For our Port Vale vs. Bristol Rovers prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.
