Carlisle United are aiming for their first win of the season when they head to Vale Park to meet with Port Vale where the home side are sitting inside the top half of the table after a slightly promising start to the season.
Vale have managed to go on a four-game unbeaten run after a stunning loss on the opening weekend in League One. The club lost 7-0 at Oakwell to Barnsley in what was the biggest defeat of any side across England's four professional leagues. In fact, Vale conceded a goal every 15 minutes at least when the first one went in after 23 minutes and let in seven from eight shots on target.
Since then, however, they have gone on to defeat Fleetwood Town in a 3-2 victory after a brace from Ethan Chislett and a goal from Joshua Thomas.
A further win would come against Reading soon after in the club's first victory of the League One season, as Vale went on to draw 0-0 with Blackpool where they had just three shots on target in a very lacklustre game. However, a 3-2 win at The Valley over Charlton Athletic has rocketed them into ninth early on after a fantastic turnaround since that 7-0 loss - James Wilson, Chislett and Funso Ojo all bagged a goal each in that game.
As for Carlisle, they are winless in the first handful of games in League One so far and have only picked up two points because of a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood after Owen Moxon scored before a 1-1 clash with Wigan Athletic where he netted again.
Moxon has also scored the only two goals in the league so far for the Cumbrians, as they have lost to Oxford United, and fell to a defeat to Exeter City last weekend. Worse yet, the men from Brunton Park have also gone on to lose to Harrogate Town in the EFL Cup first round this season already after a 1-0 loss on the road.
Off the back of such a terrible run and given the turnaround in form for Vale, they are an easy pick for this game.
