Accrington Stanley's desperate bid to remain in League One continues this weekend as they face Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth currently sit 9th in League One with sixteen wins, seventeen draws and ten losses from forty-three games this season.
Pompey have had a disappointing season having all but missed out on the play-offs despite entering the season as one of the favourites for promotion.
They'll be kicking themselves for a poor recent run of form that has seen them drop points in places they shouldn't have as they enter this game having drawn their last four consecutive matches.
Their most recent game saw them held to a 1-1 draw by a struggling Oxford United side, a result that put the final nail in the coffin of their slim play-off hopes.
The result also meant that Pompey have now dropped points against three relegation contenders in their last four matches, a fatal incompetence for any side with play-off aspirations.
Their record at home is solid enough coming into this game having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five games on home soil.
While still mathematically possible, Portsmouth's chances of finishing in the top six are less than 5% so all they can now do is look to finish the campaign in a positive manner with a view to building towards next season in the summer.
Accrington Stanley currently sit 23rd in League One with nine wins, eleven draws and twenty-two losses from forty-two games this season.
It's been a dismal season for the Lancashire club who are showing little sign of emerging from the ominous position they find themselves in as they slide closer to an eventual relegation as the weeks pass by.
They enter this game in dreadful form having won just one of their last ten matches while losing four of their last five, the most recent of which was a 1-2 loss at home to Peterborough United.
Their record away from home does not instil much confidence either, with Stanley having failed to win any of their last ten games on the road while losing their last two by a combined scoreline of 8-0.
Accrington were beaten 1-3 by Portsmouth just a few weeks back and little has changed since then to give them impression that things will be different this time around.
Stanley are three points shy of safety with four games left to play but it's hard to see where they're going get the necessary points to remain in this league.
For our Portsmouth vs. Accrington prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.
