Stevenage and Carlisle United will meet back in League One after defeats in midweek during the Football League Trophy with Stevenage aiming to keep up their excellent start to life back in the third tier.
So far, Stevenage are sitting with just one loss in League One this season and are behind Exeter City in first place due to goals difference, while they are behind Bolton Wanderers in second on fewer goals scored.
During midweek, however, the club lost 6-5 on penalties to Wimbledon after a 1-1 draw in Group K where Jamie Reid scored a penalty before a finish later on from Joe Lewis. As for Carlisle, they brutally lost to Accrington Stanley after Corey Whelan scored an own goal in a 1-0 loss away to them.
Stevenage also suffered a loss to Exeter City in the EFL Cup second round two weeks ago, but the club did manage to beat Leyton Orient 3-0 away from home with a finish from Charlie McNeil, Dan Sweeney and Nick Freeman in that victory.
Stevenage also drew 0-0 with Portsmouth before that in a match that saw Jake Forster-Caskey get sent off after a 2-0 loss to Reading where the club also got a red card after Nathan Thompson's sending off in the first half.
As for Carlisle, they are sitting in 19th in League One with just one win and three defeats in the third tier so far. Carlisle recorded their first win last time out with Shrewsbury Town falling to a 2-0 loss at Brunton Park after an own goal and a finish from Joe Garner.
before this, Port Vale, Exeter City and Oxford all defeated Carlisle with Wigan Athletic and Fleetwood Town also falling to draws with the club.
