Wycombe Wanderers and Reading will clash in League One this weekend after battles in midweek for the Football League Trophy as the two sides look to recover some form in the third tier after terrible starts.
12 places keep these two sides apart early on, as Reading have started life back in League One in utterly terrible fashion. In fact, it's been their worst start to a Football League season this century with them staring in the face of a genuine drop into League Two this season if things don't continue.
The Royals are all the way down in 24th ahead of this game, although they have, technically speaking, collected 11 points but sit with only seven after their points deduction. The club have still let in the most goals in the third tier with 28 going in and just 15 goals scored. In fact, even with the points taken away, Reading would still be in the bottom three and with a handful of points to make up. Reading have now faced a total points deduction tally of 16 in the past two years.
The club did return to winning ways on Tuesday, as Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan scored twice in the first half of a 5-2 win against Arsenal U21s in the EFL Trophy. Caylan Vickers, Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith all got goals too in that match from a total of 22 shots and 12 on target.
Wycombe are up in 12th in what has been another struggle in the early stages of League One, just like last season. They also won during the week with a 1-0 victory at Adams Park over Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy. The club have also defeated Bradford City in the FA Cup first round this month, although they suffered a home defeat at the hands of Stevenage in their last league outing.
