Stockport County's sensational rise up the league table will get a huge test this weekend when the Hatters travel to Barrow where Holker Street currently witnesses the home side all the way down in 12th after a terrible run of form in 2023.
Over the past few months in League Two, these two sides have practically swapped places in the league table. In fact, before the start of the season, Stockport were the favourites to win the competition and after sitting in mid-table for much of the season, the club are now up into fourth and are within touching distance of League One already.
Stockport are just one point behind Carlisle United in third and even sit just three adrift of Stevenage in second, although the latter does have two games in hand. The Hatters are also ahead of Northampton Town for the first time this season, but their two-point gap on the Cobblers also sees the latter have a game in hand. Stockport are still six points clear of Bradford City in eighth.
Last time out, the Greater Manchester side edged past Rochdale in a local derby. Will Collar was the hero that day, as he scored twice within two minutes during the second half. The Hatters are now on an unbeaten run stretching across six games, while they have won their past five games too. This has seen Stockport defeat Tranmere Rovers, Harrogate Town, Crawley Town, Stevenage and Rochdale.
As for Barrow, they did return to the win column last time out with a fantastic 1-0 win over Bradford City away from home. Josh Kay scored the game's only goal in the first half. Despite this, the club have only managed to win two games in 2023, with their victory over Bradford coming five weeks after defeating Mansfield Town 3-2. What's more, the club have seen themselves lose to Northampton Town 2-0 and Barrow 5-1.
Pete Wild's men are now on 44 points from 32 games with them losing 14 times across League Two this campaign. Barrow are behind Stockport by nine points in the table as well.
