Bradford vs Barrow Prediction, Tips & Stats

Bradford will be aiming to edge closer to the playoff places with a win this weekend as they host Barrow at Valley Parade on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts currently occupy 8th place in the league Two table, having amassed 48 points from their 29 league games so far this campaign. A win this weekend could see Bradford climb to as high as 5th place in the table.

The Bantams come into this tie on the back of an impressive run of form that has seen them go five games unbeaten, having won their past two. In these five games, Bradford have recorded three clean sheets, a sign of their defensive prowess.

In fact, Mark Hughes’ side have the fourth best defensive record in the league, having only conceded 28 goals in their 29 league games. It is hard to see how a Barrow side that has only scored two goals in their past five games will be able to penetrate the Bantams defence.

Mark Hughes’ side featured in midweek action as they hosted Tranmere on Tuesday night. Jamie Walker and Andy Cook both scored for the second successive game to ensure back-to-back victories for Mark Hughes' side.

After a disappointing run of results, Barrow now find themselves in 14th place in the table, having picked up 41 points from their 31 league games. The Bluebirds are without a win in their last six outings and have lost four of their last five.

Pete Wild’s side have recorded defeats against the likes of Doncaster, Newport, Carlisle and Northampton since the new year. In particular, their 5-1 defeat against Carlisle will have been extremely disheartening considering the nature of the defeat.

Barrow were also in action on Tuesday evening as they travelled to the Eco-Power Stadium. In a game of few chances, James Maxwell’s first half strike was enough for Doncaster to take all three points as the game ended 1-0.

In recent years, this has been a fairly even fixture. There have been five competitive meetings between these two sides since the turn of the century, in which Bradford have won two, Barrow have won two and there has been one draw.

The reverse fixture at the start of the season was not short of drama as Barrow edged out a five-goal thriller. The Bluebirds had a slender 2-1 lead heading into additional time thanks to goals from Ben Whitefield and Josh Kay.

Bradford thought they had rescued a point in the 95th minute, when Cook pounced after Paul Farman failed to hold Young's shot. However, Josh Gordon sealed a Barrow victory in the sixth minute of stoppage time, as the game finished 3-2. A win on Saturday would see Barrow do the double over Bradford in the Football League for the first time since 1964-65.

Bradford are home favourites heading into this tie, currently priced @ 11/0, whilst an away victory for Barrow is priced @ 12/5. We are backing Bradford to win to nil considering the recent form of both of these sides and the strength of Bradford’s defence.

            Bradford Team News

Bradford have not reported any new injury concerns ahead of this weekends matchup.

            Barrow Team News

Barrow's top-scorer, Josh Gordon is set to miss this weekend's clash as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Josh Kay is also set to be sidelined for this matchup as he recovers from an injury to his ankle ligaments.
