Bradford vs Sutton Prediction, Tips & Stats

Valley Parade is the venue for a vital clash in the battle for playoff places in League Two as Bradford are set to host Sutton United on Easter Monday.

The home side currently find themselves in 6th place in the table having amassed 65 points from their 39 league games so far this campaign. The Bantams are currently just four points below the automatic promotion places, whilst being just two points above Salford who are currently occupying 8th place in the league.

Bradford come into this weekend on the back of an impressive run of form which has seen them go undefeated in their last nine league games, however many of these have resulted in draws which has prevented Bradford from progressing up the table.

Five of Bradford’s last six league games have resulted in draws, in games which the Bantams have entered as favourites. In March Bradford recorded draws against Newport, Hartlepool, and Walsall, teams who are all currently in the bottom half of the table.

On Good Friday, Mark Hughes' side recorded yet another draw as they were held to a point at Crawley, who are currently 22nd in the league. The game was devoid of many clear goal-scoring opportunities and despite receiving a late red card, the Bantams were able to stretch their unbeaten run in the league to nine games.

After a poor run of results, Sutton United now find themselves in 10th place in the league, seven points below the playoff places, having played a game more than most of the teams above them. With only six games left in their campaign, it seems as though a spot in the playoffs is going to be a near-impossible task for Matt Gray and his side.

Sutton are without a win in their last five league outings, having recorded defeats against Stockport and Grimsby. Worryingly for Sutton, they have only scored on goal in these five games highlighting a lack of attacking quality in their squad.

These sides have met on just three prior occasions in the football league, with Sutton yet to record a victory against the Bantams. Since the first meeting in December 2021, there has been one draw and two victories for Bradford. This is a high-scoring fixture, with their being 11 goals in the three meetings.

Mark Hughes’ side recorded a 2-0 victory when these sides met in the reverse fixture earlier on in the campaign. Andy Cook put the visitors ahead against the run of play as he poked home his 15th goal of the season, from Abo Eisa's deflected effort, eight minutes before half-time.

It took the potent Bantams just six minutes after the restart to double their lead thanks to Scott Banks' fantastic strike. This defeat leaves Sutton still searching for their first victory over Bradford in a competitive setting.

Bradford are heavily favoured at the bookies ahead of this meeting and are currently priced @ 23/20, whilst an away win for Sutton is priced @ 23/10 and a draw is @ 11/5. We are backing Andy Cook to score 2+ goals as he has been highly impressive so far this campaign, and he looks set to receive the League Two golden boot.

          Bradford Team News

Mark Hughes has no new injury concerns to contend with ahead of this weekend. Hughes may look to change the attacking line from the side which failed to score last time out against Crawley, with Tom Fellows pushing for a place in the starting XI. Matthew Platt is serving a suspension following receiving a red card against Crawley on Friday.

          Sutton Team News

Sutton United have not reported any new injury concerns ahead of this weekend. In what is a very congested period of fixtures, Matt Gray may look to make changes to the side that lost to Stockport on Friday.
