It's arguably the biggest game of the season for Carlisle United and Salford City with both clubs sitting inside the playoff spots with there still a huge possibility of them dropping out of the top seven spots in the next two games.
As there are just two games left on the clock for these promotion-chasing sides, neither of them can afford to drop any points and lose this game. Just three points separate the two, as Carlisle sit in fifth with a better goals difference, as Salford cling onto the playoffs on just two goals fewer conceded than Mansfield in eighth. In fact, it is, statistically speaking, the closest a top seven race has ever been in League Two between sides from eighth to sixth.
Salford have managed to put together a promising winning run towards the end of the season and capped things off with a stunning game against Walsall that seriously ignited their playoff hopes. Callum Hendry netted after six minutes, and it looked as if Conor McAleny would win it in the 88th minute.
However a Walsall equaliser in the 95th minute seemingly spoiled Salford's season, but Matty Lund scored in the 97th minute in what will go down as one of the most chaotic ends to a game in recent League Two history.
Carlisle also returned to winning ways last weekend after drawing the previous three to lose grip on fourth and consequently move behind Stockport County. Ben Barclay was the hero, as he scored in the first half of a 1-0 win over Barrow.
