Mansfield Town are looking to sneak into the League Two play-off spots as they face Colchester United on Monday.
Colchester United currently sit 20th in League Two twelve wins, thirteen draws and twenty losses from forty-five games this season.
Colchester have ultimately had a successful season having managed to avoid relegation out of the Football League but things could have been much nervier were it not for a decent run of form in the last few games.
They enter this game having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games, the most recent of which was a 1-0 loss away at Doncaster Rovers.
Prior to the Doncaster defeat Colchester had taken ten points from twelve, a run that now in retrospect is where they secured survival.
They'll want to avoid the stress of a relegation battle next season so they'll need a big summer, but they've shown enough glimpses to suggest they can build into a competent League Two team.
Their home form has been solid of late having won two and drawn two of their last four games on home soil.
Colchester can play this fixture with freedom and they'll be hoping to claim three points to end the season in a positive manner.
Mansfield Town currently sit 8th in League Two with twenty wins, twelve draws and thirteen losses from forty-five games this season.
Mansfield enter the final game of the season with their play-off aspirations still in tact, but things are not in their own hands so they'll need a couple of favours from their peers.
Not only do Mansfield need to take three points here, but they need to hope that either Bradford City or Salford City lose their respective matches while also hoping for a three goal swing in the goal difference relating to Bradford or a four goal swing in the case of Salford losing.
It's not impossible, but they're relying on a lot to happen so the odds are not in their favour.
Their away form has been good of late though, with Mansfield winning two and drawing two of their last four games on the road.
Mansfield beat Colchester 2-1 when the two sides met back in December and given their opponents have nothing to play for they'll feel they can provide a level of intensity that Colchester cannot match.
They need to keep their optimism in tact here and play with freedom.
For our Colchester vs. Mansfield prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
