16th and 18th are set to clash at the Eco-Power Stadium with Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United both safe from relegation and set to play out a relatively meaningless game down in League Two with just two games left.
It look like for the most part of this season that Colchester were going to face a drop into the National League after failing to win a game for so long throughout the first few months. Heading into the last two games of the season, however, Colchester have now created a 10-point gap on Hartlepool United in 23rd and they will now be able to relax a bit more in these final two games of the season after securing 12 wins.
Safety was secured last weekend for Colchester after defeating Sutton United 4-1 in League Two after going behind inside 11 minutes of the game at home. Luke Chambers soon equalised, as John Akinde and Junior Tchamadeu also netted goals in the first half. Noah Chilvers also bagged with a finish midway through the second half.
This 4-0 win carried on a sensational run of form from the U's this month with them not losing a game now since a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bradford City and a loss to Stockport County soon after back in early March.
Colchester have managed to smash Crewe Alexandra 4-0 and beat Salford City 1-0 away from home ever since, while registering draws with the likes of Tranmere Rovers, Newport County, Stevenage, Crawley Town and Leyton Orient.
As for Doncaster, they area heading into this onw with 15 wins on the board but the most losses for those sitting outside of the drop zone. Nevertheless, the gap on those in the bottom two is at 13 points for Doncaster.
