Gillingham are looking to build on their excellent start to the League Two season as they face Colchester United this weekend.
Gillingham currently sit top of League Two with a perfect four wins from four games so far this season.
Neil Harris' side have registered four consecutive 1-0 wins to start the season having beaten Stockport County, Accrington Stanley, Sutton United and Crawley Town.
Gillingham were one of the lowest scorers in English football last season but having sorted out their defensive issues at the back end of the last campaign they've picked up this season right where they left off as they continue to rack up low scoring wins while keeping clean sheets.
The Gills are rock solid and last weekend's 1-0 win over Crawley was a typical Gillingham victory with an own goal by Harry Ransom in the 40th minute proving enough to seal the points.
Gillingham came into the season as many people's promotion favourites and it's rare that side's live up that billing immediately in these divisions but The Gills have done just that.
Their defensive solidity will see them far in this league as a watertight defence is so often the bedrock of a successful team and that's exactly what they've got.
This is a game they should win fairly comfortably based on form as their opponents are not on the level they are.
Colchester United currently sit rock bottom of League Two with three losses from three games this season.
Colchester started their campaign with a 2-1 loss at Bradford City before falling to a 0-2 defeat to AFC Wimbledon followed by a 2-3 loss to MK Dons.
It's been a tough start to the campaign in terms of fixture difficulty for The U's and while it won't get any easier here they'll hope they can improve their form once they start to face sides around their level.
Their most recent loss to MK Dons came in heartbreaking fashion as they entered the final two minutes of regulation time with a 2-1 lead before goals from Alex Gilbey (88') and Matthew Dennis (90+10') saw MK Dons produce a dramatic turnaround to hand Colchester a bitter 3-2 defeat.
As such, Colchester now come into this campaign devoid of any momentum so it's going to take a monumental performance to see them take a result here.
Expect a loss for Colchester in this one but if they can deliver a good showing they can still take some positives from the encounter.
For our Gillingham vs. Colchester prediction, we're going for a 2-0 win for the home side.
