Third-placed Stockport County are looking to take one giant leap towards cementing a spot in the League Two playoffs this weekend when they head to the Priestfield Stadium to meet with Gillingham who are still battling the drop.
Despite sitting down in 19th, it has been a stunning run of form from Gillingham in recent weeks, given how bad they were at one stage. In fact, they have at one stage scored just six goals in 20 games and had just one win in this time. They've now secured 12 victories and have scored 29 times in 41 games and lost 18 games.
At the same time, with 44 goals let in, they are now eight points above the bottom three and they are above Crawley Town in the relegation spot by nine points.
The Gills lost to Northampton last time out in their return to the loss column after a 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers last time out, as the club also managed to beat Crewe Alexandra and Carlisle United in March after beating Tranmere Rovers at home too. In fact, the losses to Walsall, Barrow and Northampton are the only defeats since the end of February for Gillingham.
As for Stockport, they smashed Newport County 4-0 last time out in a fantastic victory at home that say Jack Stretton and Kyle Knoyle net goals for the season after Kyle Wootton also bagged another brace. It has thrown County up into third in the table and they are now behind Northampton in the table and race for second by just three points.
Worryingly, however, County are only clear of Stevenage and Carlisle below them on goals difference, having let in just 33 goals in 41 games.
Stockport will face a tough test in this one given what Gillingham are fighting for, despite the Hatters being third in the League Two table. In fact, County are 19/20 to win this game and both teams not to score is priced at 4/6 in this outing, while over 2.5 goals sits at 6/4.
